Scott Varney

Financial Aid Processor

Scott Varney brings over 15 years of financial aid experience to Magellan Learning Solutions, having developed his expertise at Liberty University and Regent University. Originally from a small town in West Virginia, Scott’s upbringing instilled in him a deep sense of dedication, a strong work ethic, and a lifelong commitment to serving others. He earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Marshall University, which laid the groundwork for his analytical and problem-solving abilities in the financial aid sector.

In addition to his professional background, Scott has dedicated more than 30 years of his life as a bi-vocational ordained pastor and minister with both the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) and the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. His dual vocation has enriched his life and provided him with the opportunity to positively impact his community. Scott’s faith and commitment to service guide everything he does, both in my professional and personal life.

In 2025, Scott and his wife, Lorraine, will celebrate 40 years of marriage. Their family has grown to include three children and six grandchildren, each bringing immense joy to their lives. They also share their home with a spoiled Shih Tzu named Chip, who adds a unique charm to their family dynamic.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies from Liberty University, adding depth to his understanding of legal issues in the financial aid field. He is currently completing a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry at Regent University. This endeavor underscores his desire to blend his professional life with his spiritual calling.

“My life philosophy is best expressed through a quote from John Wesley: ‘Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.’ This guiding principle shapes my interactions with colleagues, students, and the church community. I strive to embody this philosophy in every aspect of my life, ensuring that I contribute positively to each person and situation I encounter.

As I continue my journey with Magellan Learning Solutions, I look forward to applying my extensive experience and passion for service to help others navigate the complexities of financial aid, all while staying true to my commitment to doing good in the world.”
