Brittany Clark-Slaughter

Learning & Development Coordinator

Brittany Clark-Slaughter has spent her whole life in Virginia. She was born in a one-stoplight town few people have ever heard of, relocated to George Mason University in Fairfax for her Bachelor’s degree in English, moved to Longwood University in Farmville for her Master’s in Creative Writing, and eventually settled in Salem. She has found she feels most at home in the mountains.

Brittany spent over a decade in public education as an English teacher, and she has experience teaching both middle and high school students. She also taught composition courses for many years at a local community college. In addition, she has served as an instructional designer, curriculum aligner, department head, and as a member of school improvement and technology teams.

In her free time, Brittany participates in aerial dance, walks her dog, and spends time with her family. She enjoys binge-watching Netflix shows and cooking meals that require five ingredients or less. Now that her son is getting older, she hopes to add more travel to her life and has a personal goal of seeing all seven continents.

“While its role in my life has shifted many times, education has always been my passion. I feel that this field, especially the online space, allows so many people to push themselves to be the best they can be. Knowing that I can be a small part of something much larger is a great honor.”
