A native of Bluefield, Virginia, Lewis Brogdon has earned degrees from Bluefield University (B.A.), Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Regent University (Ph.D.). He has become an effective teacher, experienced administrator, and an accomplished public intellectual and writer. He has authored eight books and over thirty articles.

Over his sixteen-year career in higher education, he has taught at two Historic Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), launched and directed two Black Studies programs, and worked in recruitment and admissions. He also worked as a Provost at an HBCU as it navigated its reaffirmation process. Lewis has spent the last five years as the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness (.5 FTE) at Bluefield University in Virginia and oversees planning, assessment, and compliance and the Executive Director of the Institute for Black Church Studies and Associate Professor at the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky in Louisville where he teaches courses in African American theology and history, including a course on the life and theology of Martin Luther King, Jr.

He is a sought-out national speaker who has attended high profile meetings and participated in events in venues such as the White House, the National Press Club, the South African Embassy, the National Newspaper Publisher Association annual conference in Washington D.C., Black Politics Today, Empower21 Global Congress in Jerusalem, major denominational conferences, and podcasts. Lewis has four adult children (Sarah, Charity, Micah, and Daniel) that he frequently visits. His hobbies include spending time in coffee shops writing, enjoying his “legendary” playlists on Youtube music, taking trips to a beach, attending live sports events, and exercising.
