Dr. Alissa Keith

Faculty Mentor

Dr. Alissa Keith was born in Houston but raised in Hot Springs, South Dakota. She earned a B.A. in TESL, a B.A. in Spanish, and a Master’s of Education from Liberty University. She earned an M.A. in English from Lynchburg College, a graduate certificate in Spanish translation/interpretation from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and (finally) a PhD in English language and linguistics from the University of Birmingham (UK).

Alissa began her teaching career in the English Language Institute at Liberty University and teaching high school Spanish. She has been teaching for Liberty University online since 2010, creating and teaching courses from Conversational Spanish to English to graduate linguistics. She has also served as an instructional mentor for a team of faculty who teach languages and linguistics.

Alissa taught residentially at the University of Lynchburg for 7 years, focusing on first year English and English for international students. She currently adjuncts at Central Virginia Community College at the Bedford Center, teaching college English for dual enrollment students.

In her free time, Alissa spends time with her husband, Josh, and four children. She enjoys trail running, reading, and coffee’ing with friends.

Alissa passionately advocates for every single person’s right to pursue their education, no matter their gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, etc etc.

She lives by the principle of Malala Yousafzai:
